The food you can eat when seeing your period

We should make it a point of duty to eat food that would give us a painless and healthy menstrual period.

Here is a list of some food that you can eat during your period:

  • Nuts:

Naturally most nuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and they also possess protein as well as magnesium and other numerous vitamins.

  • Chicken:

Chicken is another food you should add to your meal plan because it is iron- and protein-rich.  Protein is needed for our overall health.

  • Fruits:

Fruits such as watermelon and cucumber are considerable for staying hydrated. Sweet fruits can help you control your cravings for sugary foods and drinks.

  • Vegetables:

 Leafy green vegetables such as kale and spinach can help increase your iron levels especially if your period is heavy, it can help reduce fatigue, bodily pain and dizziness.

  • Water:

 Staying hydrated can reduce your chances of getting headaches as dehydration can cause headache which is a common symptom of menstruation.

  • Ginger tea:

Ginger has anti-inflammatory effects, which can subdue achy muscles. It is advisable to take a warm cup of ginger tea during as this can help suppress menstrual pain.

  • Yoghurt:

For people who get yeast infections during or after their period, acidophilus-rich food such as yoghurt can subdue bacteria and other infections in the vagina.
