Have a taste of Efik’s delicious dessert, Akara Mboro

This common appetizer can also serve as a breakfast recipe because of how filling it is.

Akara Mboro is a popular dessert made using beans and banana which means Mboro in Efik, a tribe in a part of Nigeria.

This appetizer has been incorporated into a lot of West African dishes with countries like Cameroon, Sierra Leone having their own versions of it while some also use grated cassava to thicken the mix.

Ingredients

  1. Mash your bananas and set aside.
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients together and mix in the bananas into the flour mix.
  3. Pour the water slowly and continue to mix till mixture is smooth.
  4. Heat up your oil for deep frying and drop little balls of the mixture.

Your Akara mboro is ready! Serve with a cold beverage.
