This fruit is generally loved across Nigeria due to its amazing health benefits and its sweet and sour taste.
African star apple, popularly known as Agbalumo or Udara among the Igbos can be used in making a very healthy cocktail or mocktail if you aren’t into alcohol.
If you are opting for the full blown cocktail, the best alcoholic to make it with is Hennessy due to the sweet undertone it gives the drink and it totally complements the agbalumo.

Ingredients
3 Agbalumos
2 Tablespoons Honey
3 Scent leaves
1 teaspoon Ginger powder
A tablespoon of Sugar
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon Angostura Bitters (substitute with any other bitters)
2 shots of Hennessy (Optional)
Instructions
- Wash the agbalumo thoroughly, peel the outer layer and scrape all the elements from the skin and seeds into a bowl.
- Pour the scrapings from the agbalumo, scent leaf, ginger powder, sugar, honey and water into a blender. Blend it till it becomes smooth.
- Pour the blended agbalumo over a sieve into another bowl to remove the chaffs.
- Mix the blended agbalumo with the Angostura bitters and add the Hennessy while you keep stirring.
Your Agbalumo cocktail is ready! Serve in a glass with ice.
