Jamaica soup you should Try Pepper soup pot
This jamaican infused vegetable soup is one palatable sumptous traditional meal common amongst the tribe,This traditional Jamaican dish,is mostly made with ingredients like callaloo, okra, coconut milk, and meat. The soup is very filling and a tasty delight.
Ingredients
Pigtails cut into bite size
beef, cut into cubes
water
yams, peeled and chopped into cubes
Coco, peeled and chopped
Okra
Indian kale( finely sliced)
1 teaspoon powdered thyme
Freshly ground salt
Freshly ground pepper
Onion(thinly sliced)
3 scallions ( finely chopped)
1 can callaloo or 1 pound fresh spinach, shredded
Jamaican green vegetable that tastes like broccoli and spinach
Method
Use a big cooking pot add water, add pig tails and Cook on medium heat to render fat.Take away the excess water from the beef then add salted beef to pot and fry until brown. Once browned, add water and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 1 hour, after an hour, add the yams and coco,add ice water to congeal fat and cause it to rise to the top. Skim off fat. Simmer for 1/2 hour more then add okra and kale. Add thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Add chopped onion and scallion. Cook another 30min. Add callaloo or spinach and boil for 3 minutes while also tasting to see if the salt and Seasoning cube is enough leave for few more minutes and your soul is ready serve immediately. Enjoy!
