How to prepare Badagry-style dog meat
Cooking and eating of meat is mostly ascribed to a particular part of the country where as it’s totally false. Neither is it peculiar to just some parts of Asia
People share their respective sentiments when it comes to killing and eating dogs because it is regarded as Man’s best friend but there are lot of people out there who make quite a lot of money in this trade.
Eating of dogs in this part of the world is mostly linked to the people of Ondo and Calabar but it is actually consumed also in some parts of Enugu and also in Badagry. They all have their unique ways of preparing it and here is how the people of Badagry prepare theirs.
Salt to taste
1. Wash the meat thoroughly and dice it into sizeable pieces of your choice.
2. Put the meat in a clean pot, add chopped onions, pepper, scent leaves, seasoning cubes, and salt to taste.
3. Pour two and a half cups of water into the pot with the meat and boil till the skin is soft to an extent.
4. Strain the meat.
5. Light up the grill and wait till it is properly heated, place the meat and allow to grill on all sides for close to 20 minutes.
Serve the grilled dog meat with cold palm wine!
