How to make Danwake
Made using beans and Kuka, Danwake is a dish mostly eaten in the northern part of Nigeria.
The meal is always served with Yaji, boiled egg, cabbage, onion flavored oil and seasoning cubes.

Ingredients
1.5 cups of bean flour
1 tablespoon of kuka flour (greenish in color)
1 medium piece of edible potash (baking soda is a good substitute)
1 cup of water
For the sauce
1 cup of Shredded chicken breast (Pre-cooked)
1 cup of shredded bell peppers
1 small onion (chopped)
2 small scotch bonnet peppers (ata rodo)
1/2 Seasoning cube
1/2 teaspoon of suya spice
1 cooking spoon of vegetable oil
Instructions
- Mix the bean and kuka in a bowl.
- Mix dissolved potash with water in a separate bowl then slowly pour it into the flour mix till it gets incorporated and a thick paste is achieved.
- Put some water in a pot under medium heat. As soon as the water starts boiling, use your hand to scoop the danwake into the pot in form of little balls.
- Leave the danwake to boil for about 40 minutes.
- To make the spicy sauced, Stir fry the shredded chicken in a pan of hot oil the add the spices and seasoning.
Your Danwake is ready, serve with spicy shredded chicken sauce!
